The organization was formed by a group of school students saving their tiffin money to help flood affected children. Later those children are now young adults running the organization.

Development for Disadvantaged People-DDP is a non-profitable and non-political voluntary social development organization, has been working in the field of developments for over two decade in Bangladesh. The organization is supportive like a friend for the poor and the environment. It believes in total and integrated development through the participation of community people with equal involvement of men and women. DDP supports people living in below poverty level to improve their livelihoods and to make them self-dependent at the same time as safeguarding the environment. Since its inception in 2002, DDP has been working to create scope to overcome the social and economic crisis to improve standard of living for the vulnerable poor and pro-poor people and an assured future for their next generation through institution building, education program, awareness raising, health & sanitation, arranging skill development training and providing technical supports.
